Why You Need To Renovate Your Kitchen

For a lot of people, the kitchen is the most important room in the home. It is a space that is central to life. But that doesn’t mean you love your kitchen. And not loving your kitchen may mean spending less time there than you would like or feeling stress and frustration when you are in your kitchen. If you hate your kitchen, renovating it may be something to consider.

Make Simple Changes

All renovations do not have to be complete overhauls. There are a number of simple changes that can be made in a kitchen to freshen up the space and make it more inviting. Consider changing the hardware on your cabinets. Often, the pulls and handles on cabinets and drawers are the ones that were installed when the house was built, which was likely a different decade. Something as minor as cabinet handles can date the room. Changing the hardware can make the room feel more current and reflect your personality.

Paint is also your friend when it comes to making changes to your kitchen. Painting can go a long way to freshening up a space that isn’t to your taste. Perhaps changing the color of the walls is the place to start. Paint can not only be used on the walls but also on cabinets and appliances. Painting your cabinets or appliances gives you the opportunity to make some updates that will make you feel more at home in your kitchen.

Change One Big Thing

Perhaps your appliances are dated and need to be replaced. Or maybe you need countertops Pittsburgh PA. Don’t underestimate the power of making one change in your kitchen. It may be the change you need to make the room go from a place you tolerate to a place you love.

Your kitchen is important, so whatever you do, make the changes that will make the kitchen more desirable for you.

Tips for Planning a Beach Vacation

To book an enjoyable family vacation at the beach, you must think about these important factors.

Where To Stay

The first thing you need to do when planning your beach vacation is figure out where you want to stay. While you have narrowed your ideal vacation spot down to the beach, you still need to figure out which beach you want to stay at. North Carolina coast rentals will look, feel, and cost very differently than beach house rentals on the west coast. Take some time to research different beaches and check out the surrounding areas for things to do while you are there.  After you decide on the location, think about what time of year you want to go. If you are interested in staying at a popular beach destination during peak times in the summer, it’s a good idea to start booking your trip in the fall. For lower prices and fewer crowds, consider renting before or after the prime season.

What To Bring

You may be so excited to get to the beach that you forget to pack essential beach items. Make a list of everything you will need before you begin to pack. Your rental contract will outline whether linens and other household items will be provided. Every time you put an item in your suitcase, cross it off your list. In addition to everything you would normally bring on vacation, you also need to pack for the beach. Consider using a separate duffel bag to bring along additional beach items like towels, bathing suits, sunscreen, bug spray, speakers, aloe vera, and a cooler for drinks. If you’re going to bring food, make sure it’s easy to eat with your hands and does not require much cleaning up afterward. Bring foldable beach chairs and umbrellas for additional shade and comfort.

Don’t forget these essential things to consider before you book your family beach vacation.

Winterize Your Vacation Cabin

No doubt your vacation home has brought you hours of enjoyment over the last year. But because you don’t live in it year-round, sometimes it’s hard to remember that even vacation homes need routine maintenance. To get your cabin in the woods (or by the lake) ready for winter, check these important systems and structures.

Insulate the Pipes

Cabins and log homes Tustin MI are no strangers to burst pipes. The problem is you may be weeks away from knowing it happened. Make sure all your outside pipes are properly insulated even if you expect to be back by the next freeze because plans, and Mother Nature, change.

Close Cracks and Holes

Mice love to sneak into the tiniest holes while you’re away, so complete a thorough check for cracks and holes. Plug small apertures with masonry repair material. Check the seals on your garage and attic doors as well. Remember that mice won’t have anything better to do besides chew themselves a door.

Service the Heater

Right before it gets cold is a great time to service the HVAC system and water heater in your vacation home. There is nothing worse than arriving for the holidays and finding either one broken with snow blowing outside. Set the thermostat at 65 to keep the indoor pipes from freezing and so the system won’t have to work too hard to heat the cabin when you arrive.

Replace Batteries

Before you head home, replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Clean the Gutters

Gutters filled with leaves and water have the potential for freezing and causing damage to the gutters themselves or the roof if they build up. Leaves may fall while you’re away from your vacation home, but it’s better to start the season clean.

The best feeling is arriving at your cabin with nothing to do but unpack and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa while you watch the snow falling. Don’t ruin the start of your vacation with chores you could have done at the end of last season.
