Stuckist Poets: Love, Sex, Art, & The Frozen Shepherd’s Pie Factory

The Stuckists are a controversial international art movement, who promote painting in the face of conceptual art, staging clown demos against the Turner Prize for the last seven years. Their origin was in a punk poetry performance group, The Medway Poets, also with an ethos of honesty, meaning, provocation and communication. This renaissance ensemble write poems and stories, perform, make music and films, take photos and paint pictures.

Readers include:
- Charles Thomson, founder of the Stuckists and previously a full-time poet for 13 years, with work in over 100 anthologies, including Forward Poems of the Decade, and Radio 4’s Pick of the Week.
- Bill Lewis, full-time writer, artist and mythographer, whose work includes six books of poetry and three of short stories, as well as teachng mythology at Kent Children’s University.
- Joe Machine was educated in Dover Borstal after burgling Leysdown greengrocers, Kent. Married with two children and managing family amusement arcade on the Isle of Sheppey.
- Wolf Howard taught himself to play drums and has been in about 30 bands, most notably with Billy Childish and currently with him in the Musicians of the British Empire.
- S.P. Howarth was kicked out of the painting course at Camberwell College of the Arts for painting pictures. He was the joint winner of Short Fuse’s Poetry Idol competition.

Going to try to come to this one. Is there a calendar I can subscribe to for the festival. Like a gcal or 30Boxes thing?

Looks like it’s going to be a fantastic event. I’ll do my best to get there. Sounds as if we are moving along the same creative path!
